Rail safety virtual field trip
In 2022 schools could enrol in a rail safety virtual field trip, organised by Waka Kotahi/LEARNZ/TrackSAFE and KiwiRail.
Information about the virtual field trip is on the Waka Kotahi education portal.

Targeted at intermediate-aged students (Years 7-10), students learned how digital innovation such as virtual reality, gamification and digital shields are helping our rail workers acquire new skills and carry out their work safely.
Students also learned how they too could stay safe around railway tracks and trains through a video series written, created and starred in by Rāroa Intermediate school students.
SADD students (Students Against Dangerous Driving) also explored ways they could support Rail Safety Week, resulting in a rail safety TikTok which was shared through SADD channels. Check it out here.
